Regifting OTK Valkyrie Zoo (In-Depth Guide)

IMPORTANT: The only reason I have 4 Dead beards in the deck is because I have access to them. They can be replaced by any Zombie that doesn’t cost more than 3 brains or If you have some but not 4 copies you can substitute for a Fireworks Zombie. To get the full effect and what I believe is the true form of a Valkyrie deck 4 copies is really good. The combination of board clear, buffing Valkyrie, and aggro is just too great in this type of deck.

After taking a break from my original Valkyrie Zoo deck I came back to revisit it particularly because of the addition of Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards.Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards. was the exact card that this deck needed to shine on a higher level than it already was. Although it is early in the event process I highly encourage you to work toward getting 4 copies of Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards. if you’re thinking about running an updated Valkyrie deck. Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards. gives us the aggro we need (3,2) combined with a better card draw for putting together the pieces to our final combo. I’m not sure how Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards. is in other decks (Although someone did use him to make me over draw in a Mixed-up Grave Digger Super Brainz deck which made me unable to block but that’s for another day) however I feel as though he is almost essential in a high level OTK Valkyrie deck. Now again this is the version I run so if your Collection doesn’t consist of 4 Barrel of DeadbeardsWhen destroyed: Do 1 damage to all Plants and Zombies, then make an 4/3 Captain Deadbeard here. I’m sure you can swap something out for maybe an extra Fireworks ZombieWhen played: Do 1 damage to all other Plants and Zombies or another 2 drop.

12/22/2016: After some testing and looking at the games I lost with this deck it usually consisted of my opponent playing a large plant. As you know this deck never ran Rockets and after many games using Rocket I found myself in a much more safe position when I knew they were in the deck. I removed 3 Cell Phone Zombies in order to get them into the deck. Cell Phone Zombie is still a solid card so I didn’t want to remove all of them and with all the draw from Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards. and Excess teleport’s I was always able to have a Rocket ScienceDestroy a Plant that has 4 Strength or more. when I needed it the most. Also Mid-game having 3 Rockets in your hand is way better than having Cell Phone Zombies clogging up your hand.

12/26/2016: After a few games of having only one Cell Phone Zombie in my deck I realized “Why don’t I just add in a guaranteed 2 card draw for one more Brain into the deck.” So the result is one less Cell Phone Zombie and One Fun-Dead Raiser. This works out much better than Cell Phone Zombie and now there is no card in the deck that will charge the opponent’s block meter for free besides a nerfed Tennis Champ. Also having this card allows us to recollect some Zombies incase our board is filled already.

*For those of you that are new to this type of deck you basically want to teleport your ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. onto the field in order to avoid hard removal like SquashDestroy a Zombie., Jumping BeanWhen played: Bounce a Zombie., Spring BeanBounce a Zombie., and Doom-ShroomDestroy all Plants and Zombies with 4 Attack or more. etc. and have a clear path to the plant Hero. However to increase the chance of an open lane to the plant hero we also use Lurch for LunchA Zombie does a Bonus Attack. in order to make an open lane if all lanes become clogged. For example below my opponent has 20 health but my ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. only has 16 attack. If I use the combo in an open lane then I will technically be dealing 32 Damage which will obviously kill my opponent since he or she only has 20 Health Max.

————
Intro: Right off the bat you can probably see that the deck is slightly different. After much thought I removed some zombies that weren’t cutting it and those Zombies include Chimney SweepWhen played on Heights: This gets +1/+1. and Exploding ImpGravestone End of Turn: This does 1 damage to itself.. I also removed Kite FlyerGravestone When this does damage, draw a card. because it was far too slow and with the addition of a guaranteed 2 card draw from Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards. we can now know for sure that we will draw and this also helps curve out the deck better. Having both in the deck I’ve discovered makes me get way too many cards and that later became a detrimental thing. I’ve added Barrel of Dead Beards because of their ability to clear low health plants like mushrooms and the fact that they double buff our ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. when they die.
————
The Major changes between Original & Version 2:

-Chimney Sweep

Chimney SweepWhen played on Heights: This gets +1/+1. wasn’t doing its job every time I drew him. Sure I could play him with Unlife of the PartyThis gets +1/+1 when you play another Zombie. on turn 2 but I felt like feeding Unlife of the PartyThis gets +1/+1 when you play another Zombie. was too much of its own strategy and this would hurt my beginning mulligan phase in the sense that “Ok, I didn’t get ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. yet but should I recycle out a Chimney SweepWhen played on Heights: This gets +1/+1. in hopes of a ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. or should I just start by playing him with Unlife of the PartyThis gets +1/+1 when you play another Zombie. on turn 2. Later in the game he is a lot less effective because he’s basically just a 2,1 unless you left the heights lane open and it was just really inconsistent to me so I removed him.

-Exploding Imp

Looking back at Exploding ImpGravestone End of Turn: This does 1 damage to itself. he was alright. He took out Power Flowers for me and sometimes dealt 6 damage to the plant hero but other times he was just fronted with a regular plant and I effectively wasted 3 brains to make an unnecessary trade. To me he’s just too slow and the fact that he doesn’t stay on the field might seem like a good thing but in a deck that basically kills itself anyway I don’t see how he could be that much effective.

-Kite Flyer

Basically with the addition of Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards., Kite Flyer I feel is not really needed in this deck. Let me give you a list of reasons why Kite FlyerGravestone When this does damage, draw a card. wasn’t that great.

1. Gravebuster will completely stop Kite FlyerGravestone When this does damage, draw a card. from drawing any cards and in the meantime you wasted 3 brains to do nothing.
2. Kite FlyerGravestone When this does damage, draw a card. doesn’t guarantee multiple draws. If you guys could look back on how many draws Kite FlyerGravestone When this does damage, draw a card. gave you on average what would you say? For me personally my Kite FlyerGravestone When this does damage, draw a card. usually just draws me one card before it’s killed the next turn or If I was desperate and need to front a plant it would only draw me one card or charge my opponent’s block meter dealing one damage and if not it can even get blocked by your opponent’s shield and draw you nothing.

+ Regifting Zombie

Looking at Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards. he activates Immediately and you are guaranteed 2 cards. Not only this but since he’s a 3,2 your opponent will have to worry about his stats. Also for those of you saying that Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards. is bad don’t truly understand his power. The two cards that your opponent draws are not going to be used by him immediately (Assuming you drop him on turn 2) The first person who is going to get value out of the cards that you just drew are you because you go first when the next round starts with the added brains.

+Barrel of Dead-beards

Barrel of Dead Beards is really really Powerful and since he triggers ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. twice when he dies he is a huge asset in this new version of the deck. He acts as field clear and aggro in one card and that’s something that that Fireworks ZombieWhen played: Do 1 damage to all other Plants and Zombies can’t do on his own I’ve learned. The only cards that hard counter him are Hibernating BearyWhen hurt: This gets +4 Strength. and Mirror-NutTeam-Up - When your Nuts gets hurt, do 2 damage to the Zombie Hero. but we can stall out Hibernating BearyWhen hurt: This gets +4 Strength. (However Mirror-NutTeam-Up - When your Nuts gets hurt, do 2 damage to the Zombie Hero. is a direct counter to this deck and usually most Professor Brainstorms).

+Beam me up

I added Beam Me UpMake a 2/3 Space Cadet Zombie. to the deck as a sort of cushion, sometimes when you play your opponent will destroy one of the Zombies that we want to trade using so Beam Me UpMake a 2/3 Space Cadet Zombie. takes the pressure off of our hero to stall for time. I really liked how SummoningMake a random Zombie that costs 2 Brains. would come to my aid to patch up a lane and I thought why not just have a guaranteed 2,3 for 2 brains to patch up any lane that I want filled and that’s when I added them in. We are essentially playing a game of survival when using this deck and once we collect all of our combo pieces we will be in good shape to end the game hopefully.

+Rocket Science

At first I never had Rocket Science in the deck because I was always a no interaction with the opponent’s board type of guy with this deck but then I looked at the games I lost and realized that things like Bananasaurus RexThis gets +1/+1 when you draw a card. After combat here, this does a Bonus Attack. were killing me along with the occasional GuacodileAmphibious - When destroyed: Do 4 damage to a Zombie here.. I added these Rockets in because the deck already had enough card draw so I was able to relieve 3 Cell Phone Zombies from the deck in order to stick them in. Having Rockets allows us to survive longer and stand toe to toe with Annoying Mega Grow decks that this deck had some trouble facing in the past. Also Rocket ScienceDestroy a Plant that has 4 Strength or more. opens up another Combo for us on turn 7 that involves Teleporting in ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. and using Rocket Science on a large plant as seen below.

If you’ve played my original Valkyrie deck you’ll know that If you don’t draw ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. the entire game there is usually no hope in sight but with the addition of Barrel of Dead Beards and Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards. we now have more options for card draw and Aggro just in case we run out of steam which a lot of people don’t realize is easy to do if you don’t keep card draw  in your opening hand.

————–

The Mulligan & Strategy:

Now that the deck is basically a more condensed version of the original the mulligan is actually more simple. You want ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. and you want card draw. So many times in the past where I was unsure of what to keep against certain heroes but if we keep our strategy focused and simple then the mulligan should follow.
Back in the day I used to think that having an Unlife of the PartyThis gets +1/+1 when you play another Zombie. in my starting hand was ok without searching for ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. but after playing for a while I realized that I want ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. as soon as possible. So basically If we don’t have ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. in our hand we want to cycle out anything that isn’t going to draw us a card. If we do have ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. we have a bit more options because now we can focus on setting up our Barrel of Dead Beards explosion and or card draw. ALWAYS cycle out TeleportYou may play a Zombie as a Trick this turn. Draw a card. and Lurch for LunchA Zombie does a Bonus Attack. because they are not necessary in the beginning stages of the game. If we are going against a Kabloomy hero always Always if you can keep a Barrel of Dead Beards in your hand because it will trade with mushrooms. This is also the same for Fireworks ZombieWhen played: Do 1 damage to all other Plants and Zombies against kabloomy.

So for example against a Kabloomy hero like Solar Flare a solid hand would be, ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed., Barrel of Dead Beards or (Fireworks ZombieWhen played: Do 1 damage to all other Plants and Zombies), Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards., and possibly Cell Phone ZombieWhen played: Draw a card..

Against any other hero the Barrel of Dead Beards is not necessary but sometimes punishing our opponent’s turn one play is too good. Having a 4,3 to start off round 3 while you pile on more shenanigans to the field is great for tempo.

Matchups Guide:

Greenshadow~

Interestingly enough I’ve found that clogging the middle lane with a Barrel of Dead Beards is an interesting strategy used to make your opponent not use their super power Precision BlastAttack for 5 damage in the middle lane. prematurely. However beware because this can backfire and cause more harm then good however you should know that if ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. is in hand there is no such thing as a bad trade or a Zombie dying in Vain. Green Shadow does have access to some powerful amphibious plants such as MayflowerAmphibious When this hurts the Zombie Hero, add a random Corn, Squash, or Bean to your hand. and CattailAmphibious so you best be warned. Causing a threat on the ground lanes is a top priority when going against Greenshadows that take a bean route. However Fireworks ZombieWhen played: Do 1 damage to all other Plants and Zombies & Barrel of Dead Beards should clear up most 2 health plants no matter what lane they are in.

Solar Flare~

Solar flare is interesting because she is solar and that class has healing which could potentially throw off when we can use our ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. combo if it hasn’t reached 20 Attack yet. Barrel of Dead Beards & Fireworks ZombieWhen played: Do 1 damage to all other Plants and Zombies is very destructive for Solar Flare’s early game because of the lack of health her early plants have. For example my opponent plays Shroom for TwoMake a 1/1 Puff-Shroom with Team-Up here. on turn one and I punish it turn 2 by fronting it with Barrel of Dead Beards. They then pass and I will have a 4,3 the next turn.

One interesting thing to note that has only happened to me once is when Briar RoseWhen a Zombie hurts a Flower, destroy that Zombie. is placed when I’m ready to start my ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed.  combo on a plants side filled with flowers. This is usually just by passed by doing  the combo on a non Flower plant but I just thought it was interesting to note since the earliest we can ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. combo is at 6 brains and 6 sun is what it costs to use Briar RoseWhen a Zombie hurts a Flower, destroy that Zombie..

Wall-Knight~

Wall-Knight is one of those decks that can completely wreck any non Sneaky, or Hearty Hero (Weed SprayDestroy each Plant with 2 Strength or less. & Deadly Zombies counter many of it’s tools) and is probably the most annoying match-up for this deck and all professor Brainstorms due to Mirror-NutTeam-Up - When your Nuts gets hurt, do 2 damage to the Zombie Hero.. In fact with this version, Barrel of Dead Beard explosion will end up killing us if Mirror-NutTeam-Up - When your Nuts gets hurt, do 2 damage to the Zombie Hero. is on the field with even a few nuts. Other powerful cards at Wall-knights disposal are GuacodileAmphibious - When destroyed: Do 4 damage to a Zombie here., SmackadamiaAmphibious - When played: Your Nuts get +2 Health., Hibernating BearyWhen hurt: This gets +4 Strength., and along with some Strikethrough plants that can be annoying. Dealing with high health amphibious creatures is not this deck’s strong suit so be warned that you should try to go for your combo before the game gets prolonged anymore by Wall-Knights heavy counters to us.

Chompzilla~

Similar to Solar Flare Chompzilla has access to healing so any ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. below 20 attack that you’re cooking up might be countered by a 2nd-Best Taco of All TimeHeal 4. Draw a card. or GeyserHeal your Hero and all Plants for 4.. *Warning: With the addition of Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards. there is a card that Chompzilla has access to that can counter it extremely hard and that’s Bananasaurus RexThis gets +1/+1 when you draw a card. After combat here, this does a Bonus Attack.. Bananasaurus RexThis gets +1/+1 when you draw a card. After combat here, this does a Bonus Attack. can grow out of control if we’re just throwing our gifts of card draw around and this can really put us in a corner if it is not dealt with accordingly. So try to deal with any Bananasaurus RexThis gets +1/+1 when you draw a card. After combat here, this does a Bonus Attack. your opponent plays before thinking about playing Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards.

Spudow~

Spudow basically destroys every zombie in sight with his Kabloomy plants and 1/2 of his powers so we should have no trouble buffing up Valkyrie against him. The only problem is if he plays a Mirror-NutTeam-Up - When your Nuts gets hurt, do 2 damage to the Zombie Hero. deck which is odd with Spudow but still possible. Another thing to factor in is his powerful Aquatic plants like SmackadamiaAmphibious - When played: Your Nuts get +2 Health.GuacodileAmphibious - When destroyed: Do 4 damage to a Zombie here. which can really put in work on our health pool. One thing to note is that if our opponent is suspecting we are playing a ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. deck he can actually play Tater TossMake a 1 Health Hothead that says "Team-Up. When destroyed: Do 6 damage to a Zombie here." in lane 1 or any lane they think we are going to play ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. in to directly counter us because it will deal damage equal to ValkyrieWhile in your hand: This gets +2 Strength when a Zombie is destroyed. health back at it although the Spudow would have to be a wizard level Spudow to pull this off it’s just something to keep in mind.

Quick Tips:

-Eureka- Drawing 3 random cards from the entire game is a good start to the game don’t get me wrong it’s just that if we draw into it in the late game it can potentially be a problem. So If you don’t know it is really easy to over draw and get 10 cards with Regifting ZombieWhen played: Each player draws two cards. in this deck. Not only that but TeleportYou may play a Zombie as a Trick this turn. Draw a card. draws you a card and so does Cell Phone ZombieWhen played: Draw a card.. EurekaAdd three random cards in the entire game to your hand. essentially becomes useless later in the game because we absolutely do not want cards with no synergy added to our hand If we accidentally overdraw and don’t draw a card the next turn that could have been a potential Lurch for LunchA Zombie does a Bonus Attack. that could have easily sealed the game for us. For example below my Valkyrie was at 40 attack but I lost the game anyway because my opponent did a good job at flooding the board and I was unable to draw Lurch for LunchA Zombie does a Bonus Attack..

Thanks for sharing this deck, it’s absolutelly amazing, went from 46 to ultimate league and it was pretty easy. Lost some games cuz of bad moves or didn’t draw the combo, but overall it was amazing. No other deck worked charmed like this, thanks again!

Hey, TryHard! Nice deck you got going there. I have lost to many variations of the Valk OTK combo. Unfortunately, I can’t play it because I’m F2P and I don’t have Professor Brainstorm yet…

On a different topic, I was wondering, how do you include screenshots in your posts? I have some of my own that I would like to include in my deck thread, but I don’t know how to do it. Would you have the patience to explain? Thanks!

I was just thinking about this deck and thinking that perhaps you could add in some late game card if you can’t get Valkyrie up. Probably only 1 or 2 of it though. If so, what should I use?

I wouldn’t recommend any late game into this deck because say we draw them in the beginning we might get rushed down when we are the one’s who are supposed to be applying pressure in the beginning. Having the most expensive card in the deck cost 3 allows us to be more flexible throughout the rounds.

Going to try adding in Rockets today. I only have 1 barrel of Deadbeards which is slowing me down. I have fun playing this deck for the OTK, but I feel like the competition got a lot tougher over the last week with all of the legendary cards being on sale.

Overall I would say I have a 60% win rate with this deck. Definitely not my best deck for ranked games, but it’s still fun.

I have 4 barrel of Deadbeards, and I use this deck with some slight alterations. My win rate is 100%. Literally. Been keeping track. There were some very close instances because of bonus attack decks, but I won anyways.

I love this deck and I have been using the older version as part of my climb to Ultimate. (rank 43 atm).

I spent the past few days grinding out Gifting Zombies and finally have all four. Even when I had two and three gifting z it felt so good.

    Great guide.

Hmm… I see the great potential of regifting zombie now.

Question: can one still use kite flyer if they don’t have enough regifting Zombies? Could one actually try running both kite and gift zombies, or is it too much card draw?

I only have 2 Regifting Zombies so far, but I’m getting great results running 3 Kite Flyers with them. I think they’re better than Cell Phone Zombies, since (i) they frequently draw 2 or more cards instead of just 1; (ii) they put pressure on the opponent to kill it, whereas (especially without Orchestra Conductor) YOU are responsible for killing your Cell Phone Zombie with Fireworks/Barrel before it loses you the game by giving the opponent all their superpowers; and (iii) as a gravestone, they reliably buy a crucial turn against the likes of Captain Combustible Re-Peat Moss.

Totally agree – I was like why would I ever give the other player draw 2, but this makes sense.

I only have one Barrel of Deadbeards card and a only 75% of the way to my first re-gifting card =(

In my opinion the Trickster deck is more superior than a Valkyrie deck.
In a Trickster deck you have more control of the board for example in the form of Plumber’s, rockets and (In my version at least) Zombot’s Wrath. Not only that but when you drop trickster he can deal damage right away instead of Valkyrie who needs a lurch for lunch. Trickster decks can win on the Zombie’s phase outright. Trickster decks are very tricky to deal with and are more consistent than Valkyrie decks are because in order to make Valkyrie work you need her to get buffed, you need Teleport, and possibly a lurch for lunch when all these things come together sure you automatically win but me personally I like the control of Trickster decks because I feel safer when playing them.

Valkyrie decks can be tuned to be semi-controlling, though. Fry runs 2 Plumbers/3 Rockets in his build; and I currently run 4/3 (though I may shave that down a tad after I add the last two Regifting Zombies) along with full sets of both Barrel of Deadbeards and Fireworks Zombie, and generally feel in control of the board. Think of the additional removal spells as extra Lurch for Lunches; you aren’t allowed to run more than 4 Teleports or 4 Valkyries, but you can and probably should exceed 4 Lurches.

Granted, I have never played or played against a 4-Trickster deck (only own one), but until Teleport and/or Valkyrie is nerfed I have a hard time believing Trickster is stronger against a field stuffed to the brim with Black-Eyed Peas.

I totally agree with the trickster deck having more control as the valkyrie deck. Black eyed pea is a real problem though if you rely on tricks too much. I am currently playing a mix of the otk/trickster deck, am going to upload it tomorrow and explain how it works based on the inspiration i got from your guides. Also, i tried both regifting and kite flyer and still prefer kite for several reasons. Will explain that more in detail in my deck guide.

I play 2 Zombot Warath’s in a Professor Trickster deck. It can be vary useful against Black eyed pea to deal immediately and kills Power Flower with addition of Beam me up or Bungee plumber.

Don’t get me wrong you can use Disco Zombie in the deck! In fact I actually used to run Cuckoo Zombie when I was first making this deck. Me personally I really like being able to play a 2 drop that the opponent is forced to take out by playing Pool Shark and not charging the opponent’s block meter is really good for later on when we teleport Valkyrie. Disco Zombie can also work in the deck because we can double buff Valkyrie if they die. It’s personal preference really but me personally I really like the snug curve of this version of OTK Valkyrie.
