Kiwi’s Super Special Frozen Snakes (I’m in Ultimate League and this is quite fun to play)

Kiwi here. Now streaming on Twitch for your viewing pleasure! Same username. No definite schedule yet, but stay tuned. (:

I was thinking, what would help Snake Grass survive to do its thing? Let’s try some classic Smarty Class freezing. If you saw my stream earlier, I played a few games with this deck, with some good success, but as always, new decks will change a lot. I just barely got my 4th Snake Grass, and whipped this one up. I’m gonna make a more in depth description later, but a good friend of mine from college is visiting and so I wanted to get this posted before I forgot.

To summarize real quick for you guys:

Basically you want to use freezing to keep your Snake Grasses alive, Resue Radish to bounce one back and get another chance to start your Snake Grass chain, use Rain on an army of them, and use the normal freeze strategy otherwise (Winter Squash, Snowdrop, the whole nine yards). Bounce as you please, Mayflower will help you with card draw, and a couple Sportacuses to punish your opponent for any tricks they’ve got up their sleeve. Sportaci? Sportaceese? Whatever. Berry blast is really your only hard removal other than Winter Squash + freeze, so use them wisely. Oh, and Brainana is gonna help you out, especially for lethal, so don’t be afraid to Rescue Radish him, of course. That’s the important stuff! Check back with you later!

Kiwi, out.

Snake grass has no purpose at all in this deck, as someone said before, you have to build a deck around it, as in an all anfibious minions and buffing them with navy bean. No snake grass and maybe more sportacus and jolly holly would be better

I should add a couple more Jolly Holly. And my thought process is to keep snake grasses alive, you freeze stuff around it and bounce stuff out of the way. So, this is just kind of a test deck to see if there’s any other ways that Snake Grass could work.
I definitely think that buffing them with Navy Bean is a great idea; I didn’t even think about the team up aspect! So awesome. Thank you!

I’d recommend my deck if you’d like to see some Slithering action and perhaps get the catch 🙂

I Agree with Naut, as my plant expertize, freeze is weakest on Nightcap, with no specific protection or add on with abilities- or even superpowers. Snake Grass is a Card which I personally think should be based off, Freeze is very important in terms of positioning, due to Jolly Holly placement, Block meter, etc, so Snake Grass really takes over the field, which is not what you want on a Freeze. I’d say you should move this deck to another hero as it is 36/40 smarty and remake it.

Did you use Wintermelon for Splash Synergy with Snake Grass’s protection or for the freeze, because Freeze deck users don’t use Wintermelon or Ice pea.

Other than that, I think you have gone for a brave thing to do and got the hook of a understand of freeze 😀

The Winter Melon I put in because I have not yet crafted more Jolly Holly’s (being F2P can be rough), and to protect Snake Grass, yes, but I totally understand why you wouldn’t run it. Terrible for a legendary. And yeah I haven’t seen people run Snow Peas in ages, haha. Now, I did unlock Rose since making this deck, so as someone who plays with Rose, would you ever make a Rose Snake Grass deck?

Actually, yes I would, I was having a hard time which hero to pick for my Snake Grass deck, you see Snake Grass is a lot more complex than it looks and it gets a different edge with every different Smarty hero. I think it would have been a Control Tempo for Rose.

I think Snake Grass Certainly would go with Nightcap into a slighlty slower field takeover aggro and would work on Green Shadow for a similar effect, only more singular than multi. Citron would of made it a untouchable hero and snakes behind Team-Ups, probably Water chestnuts and smackadamias for amph synergy. Rose on the other hand would be removal and tempo, I think it would have the Keep clean effect on the lane fill, I would of made enforcers from solar like Morning Glory, Sage Sage, Balloons, Hammer- sorry ‘whack-a-zombie’- Heals and Cornucopia. Could of also been a Flower Midrange.

This is nearly a Smarty exclusive deck with 36/40 cards being Smarty. Out of the 4 Smarty heroes, Nightcap has the weakest freeze deck with no superpower synergy. I am curious to know why did you pick Nightcap freeze as the deck of choice given that the only Kaboom card you are using is Berry blast? Would such deck archetype benefit more from Solar removal, or Guardian protection, or Mega-grow buffs?

Another issue with Freeze deck in general is unwanted lane clogging. I have not used Snake grass myself but has it been an issue for you?

So one game I had lane clog, but I still won by quite a margin as the opponent tried to deal with all then snakes.

Now, the reason I chose Nightcap is because I love his Super for removal of all kinds of two health zombies you run into, from Pogos to Zookeeper, bounce power works fine with any deck, and Rain is SO GOOD. That’s the main one. I was just trying to make a viable freeze Nightcap for fun, I was playing in on my steam, and it didn’t even occur to me how good Rain could be, but it really, really works. People were asking for the decklist after three games. Also, there are so many good Smarty cards, especially cause event cards recently, but Berry Blast is just amazing in any deck.
