Octo Zombie

Cost: 8 - Strength: 8 - Health: 8

Amphibious, Frenzy

When destroyed: Bounce this Octo Zombie.

Is the correct term 'octopuses' or 'octopi'? You'd think he'd have an opinion, but he doesn't.

Although the description says that this zombie bounces itself, you actually gain another Octo Zombie.

I classify this card as the number one in my “Legendary Trio”, next to the Sharktronic Sub and the Zombot 1000. It looks nightmarish, has an insane amount of atk and hp, and it has 3 abilities. Three abilities. Amphibious isn’t as good, as it means it needs to be placed in the last lane, but Frenzy is always good, especially with the incredibly high damage. Afterlife is the icing on the cake, because it means Octo Zombie can sustain a hard removal and still come back to haunt the next turn.

The 8 brain cost is expensive, but compared to Zombot, Octo Zombie makes it less likely for the Plant hero to win on the turn it is played. It is a potent finisher in Pet decks, and getting another one after the first one dies means you can draw out hard removal with the first Octo and strike hard with the next. Squash is slow, so if they have to use Squash, they only have so much Sun that they may use to solidify their plays. Great Zucchini, Transmogrify, and Goatify are nice answers to the Octo Zombie because they negate all of its properties, including Afterlife. If you use any of these, be aware of their weaknesses. Great Zucchini is slow and requires heavy commitment, Transmogrify can spawn a variety of potent Zombies that offset the potential weak ones, and Goatify makes a Pet Zombie, the type of Zombie a Beastly hero might make a specialized deck for. Hot Date is not an option because of this card’s stats and Frenzy, use Shamrockets and Guacodile instead.

The thing that separates him from other legendaries is that he doesn’t have any special abilities. He is just a very good Zombie

He does get afterlife though, so he basically has double strength.
